Apple is developing a video surveillance system with body recognition

Late last year, Apple filed a patent for its own video surveillance system that will interface with the company’s ecosystem, including HomePod mini and Smart TV+. Its main feature is the ability to recognize users by physique, and not just by their faces. The feature is now referred to as Bodyprint ID.

According to the patent, Apple’s technology will be able to recognize a person by their physical characteristics, for example, by the features of the torso, the clothes they wear, and so on. The so-called “body print” can take into account one or more features of a person. The video surveillance system will use a deep learning model to recognize people.

Thus, by comparing already known data from the ecosystem database, the device will be able to identify both the owner and uninvited guests. In the latter case, the owner will receive an appropriate notification through Apple services.
