Bharti Airtel on Friday launched its ‘Always On’ IoT (Internet of Things) connectivity solution in the domestic market.
The “Always On” solution includes a dual M2M (machine to machine) eSIM profile that allows IoT devices to stay connected to the mobile network from different mobile network operators in eSIM.
An “eSIM” is a SIM card that is built into a mobile device and can connect you to any carrier that offers eSIM services.
“Our network strengths, modern and GSMA compliant platform offering real-time data access and flexibility to integrate solutions with custom APIs will enable Airtel Business to excel in the market,” said Ajay Chitkara, Director and CEO, Airtel Business.
In addition, according to the company, the “Always On” solution is best suited for vehicle tracking providers, car manufacturers and any use cases where the device operates in remote locations requiring universal connectivity.
Airtel aims to gain market leadership in this segment over the next few years, the company added.
India was the fastest-growing market for Internet of Things (IoT) modules, with more than 264 percent growth in the second quarter of this year, a report last month showed.
Although growing on a lower base, IoT module growth in India has been driven by smart meters, telematics, point of sale (POS) and automotive applications, according to Counterpoint Research.
