Bing chatbot is really based on the GPT-4 language model

The day before, OpenAI introduced a new language model GPT-4, which better solves complex problems due to more extensive knowledge compared to GPT-3.5. Duolingo, Stripe, Khan Academy and other companies are working on integrating GPT-4 into their products. The Bing chatbot has also been confirmed to be based on the GPT-4 model.

“We are happy to confirm that the new Bing runs on GPT-4 configured for search.” reported Yusuf Mehdi, head of consumer marketing at Microsoft. “If you’ve been using the new Bing preview for the past six weeks, you’ve already seen the potential of OpenAI’s latest language model.”

The Bing chatbot provides summarized responses to your search queries in a form that is meant to be more conversational than a simple list of website links. Microsoft has previously stated that it is based on a language model codenamed “Prometheus”, but there has been no word on whether the chatbot takes advantage of GPT-4.

In addition, Microsoft has again changed the limits on requests to the Bing chatbot. From now on, users can send up to 15 messages per session and create up to 150 conversations with the bot per day.
