Business Insider: Microsoft fired the Modern Life Experiences team, which was created with the goal of “winning consumers”

Business Insider Edition informsthat recently Microsoft fired the Modern Life Experiences team, which was created in 2018 with the goal of “winning consumers back.” Approximately 200 employees are ordered to find another position at Microsoft within 60 days or quit.

It’s worth noting that the news comes just weeks after Microsoft announced it would slow hiring and cut less than 1% of its workforce. The Modern Life Experiences team was dedicated to “creating consumer products directly for the people who need them… enabling families to learn, explore and connect in a fun and safe environment.”

What this means for Microsoft’s consumer efforts beyond the Xbox and Surface is unknown at this time. Of course, the company will continue to sell many of its products to consumers, including Microsoft 365, Outlook, Family Safety, but the creation of new devices and services may slow down.

Microsoft representatives reportedly declined to comment on Business Insider information.
