Chingari’s has Salman Khan as product ambassador, investor

Home screening forum Chingari on Friday said Bollywood actor Salman Khan had stepped in as a product ambassador and investor.

“This is a very important partnership for Chingari, our goals are to reach all the provinces of Bharat and it is our pleasure that Salman Khan has served as one of our ambassadors and global investors,” Ghosh said.

He expressed confidence that the association would empower Cingari to raise the bar in the near future.

Details of the investment made by Khan were not disclosed.

Speaking about the association, Salman Khan said Cingari focused on adding value to its customers and content creators.

“I love the way Chingari has been built in such a short time, the stadium of millions from rural to urban to showcase their unique talents and be seen by millions more quickly,” he added.

Deepak Salvi, founder and COO of Chingari said he believes the multiplayer application will help the app attract more users to the platform.

“Chingari has always focused on empowering content creators and builds on its strategy to continue to deliver exciting content to all users with relevant and robust features, of the great Baratra,” he added.

On Wednesday, OnMobile Global Ltd said it had paid USD 13 million (₹ 98.7 crore) for funding in Chingari.

Other investors who participated in the cycle include Republicans US, Astarc Ventures, White Star Capital, India TV (Rajat Sharma), JPIN Venture Catalysts Ltd, ProfitBoard Ventures, and other major family office funds from the UK.

Last year, Chingari had raised more than USD 1.4 million from investors such as Angel list, Seed, Village Global, Blume Founders Fund, Jasminder Singh Gulati and others.

OnMobile said the latest investment would allow Chingari to accelerate its growth from 56 million users to more than 100 million.

Chingari will also use the funds to develop its content portfolio and hire top talent.

Tech4Billion Media owns a Hungarian app that allows users to download videos in 14 languages ”‹”‹including English, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Odia, Punjabi, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu.

The Hungarian app was first launched in the Google Play Store in November 2018 and was later rebuilt and rebuilt in June 2020.

The app saw a huge upsurge in its users last year after the Indian government banned 59 Chinese-owned applications, including Chingari rival TikTok.

Since the ban, several home-based applications such as Roposo, Cingari and Josh (Dailyhunt) have seen significant growth in user download and registration on their platforms.

Facebook-owned Instagram also joined Reels, while YouTube has launched its first “Shorts” to India to fill the vacancy left by the closure of TikTok in the country.
