Microsoft has released a new update for the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles that brings support for Discrod voice chats. However, we are not talking about a full-fledged Discord application for Xbox, but only about the ability to redirect a voice call to a game console using the Xbox mobile application.
So, in order to use Discord voice chats, you need to install the Xbox app on your smartphone and link your Xbox accounts to Discord. If the accounts have already been linked, then the procedure will have to be repeated in order to grant permission to access voice chats.
When you want to chat with your friends, you will need to start a call in Discord, click on the “Transfer to Xbox” button, and then select your game console in the Xbox mobile app. Note that you can also start a voice chat on a PC or in the web version of Discord. When you click on the “Transfer to Xbox” button, a QR code will appear, which you need to scan with your smartphone to open the Xbox mobile app.
Over time, Xbox and Discord integration may be improved. “We’re thrilled to partner with our friends at Xbox to add support for Discord voice chat on Xbox consoles,” the Discord team said in a blog post. “We are looking forward to continuing our cooperation […]. Who knows what the future holds for us!”
