Telegram has announced a number of new features for its users. The social messaging app is getting features like status emoticons, infinite reactions, improved login flow and more. Some of these features are available to all users, while some are only available to Premium members. Here’s a look at all the features coming to Telegram
Emoji statuses
Telegram Premium users will now be able to add an animated emoji status to the app. This custom status will replace the premium premium badge in the chat list, profile and groups. Premium users will be able to choose from seven standard statuses that change color to match different Telegram themes – or choose from an infinite number of custom emojis.
This feature is available to Premium users starting today. To set emoji statuses, tap the Premium badge at the top of the chat list or go to Settings and change the status. Press and hold the emoticon to set the status for a certain amount of time.
Endless reactions
The company has redesigned the reaction panel so it’s expandable. The app will also display reactions that the user uses frequently at the top. Premium Telegram Premium users can choose reactions from an endless selection of custom emoticons. Users can attach up to 3 reactions to each message. These reaction changes are currently available in groups and 1v1 chats. Group admins can control whether custom reactions can be used in their groups.
Improved login flow
Telegram will now send login codes via email addresses to users who log out and log in frequently. Users can also sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. The company also added new interfaces and fun animations to the Telegram app for iOS.
New username links
All Telegram usernames have their own t.me/username links, making it easy to share a public profile, group or channel anywhere on the internet. Each username will now have a new unique link format – username.t.me – for those who want to emphasize their name (or have trouble finding the / key).
Prioritize downloads on Android
Telegram users will now be able to press and hold on any item in the list to order and change their priority – downloading the highest file first.
This feature is already available on iOS and is now coming to Android users as well.
Gadgets for Android
Telegram has also added new smooth animations for opening, closing and swapping media on Android. Android 13 or later users can choose a themed Telegram icon that will automatically match the phone’s dark mode settings and highlight color.
