Meta-owned Facebook is struggling to maintain its position among the top 10 apps on the US App Store this year, according to a new report.
As younger consumers move to newer social networks like TikTok and now BeReal, the tech giant’s app has lost traction in the App Store charts, according to an analysis of data from the iPhone App Store, TechCrunch reports.
Last year, Facebook dropped out of the Top 10 free iPhone apps in the US only seven times, according to the report. But by 2022, that number had already soared to 97 — suggesting Facebook may be losing ground as new apps push their way into the top App Store charts.
For a more direct comparison, the Facebook app fell out of the Top 10 App Store apps only six times during the first half of 2021. In the first half of 2022, however, it dropped out of this grouping a total of 59 times. data provided to TechCrunch by Sensor Tower.
In 2022, she even stayed out of the Top 10 once for 37 consecutive days, up from just two consecutive days in 2021.
