Meta-owned Facebook has announced that it will be shutting down its standalone gaming app later this year. The largest social media platform is said to be sending alerts to its gaming app users and informing about the same. According to the announcement, the app will no longer be available for download from October 28. “We want to express our heartfelt thanks to all of you for everything you’ve done to build a thriving community for players and fans since the first app. launched,” Facebook said in an announcement.
As a reminder, Facebook launched its gaming platform – Fb.gg in 2018. At that time, it was supposed to compete with Twitch and YouTube. However, Facebook has not given any reason why it is shutting down the app.
