In order to improve the user experience, Meta-owned Facebook has announced that it is launching two tabs – Home and Feeds – that will now be available for iOS and Android users.
Home is the new name for the tab that users see first when they open Facebook, like reels and stories. Meanwhile, the Feeds tab allows access to content from the people and communities users are connected to on the platform.
“Introducing Feeds, a new tab that lets you easily see the latest posts from your friends, pages, and groups. You can create a list of your favorite friends and the sites you care about most and filter their content on this new tab,” CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a blog post.
“We’re also naming the primary tab — the first thing you see when you open the app — Home,” Zuckerberg added.
The company also said that some users will see Feeds as a tab on the shortcut bar; on iOS, this bar is at the bottom of the app, and on Android, it’s at the top.
Facebook expects these updates to roll out globally over the next week.
The tabs on the shortcut bar change according to the parts of the app that users use the most. They can also customize and pin the tab to the shortcut bar so that its location is permanent.
While the home page is increasingly where users find community through their passions and interests, they can continue to stay up-to-date on the people and communities you care about most in your feeds.
