Former Windows CEO Steven Sinofsky showed off an early concept for Windows 8

Former Windows division leader Steven Sinofsky posted a video of an early concept for the Windows 8 operating system. It is noted that this video presentation was shown to Microsoft employees in 2010. Windows 8 was released in 2012.

Since the presentation was created early in the development of the system, many of the ideas shown were never put into practice. Interestingly, the Start button on the taskbar was present on the concepts, but in the final version of the system they decided to abandon it. The Start button returned in Windows 8.1.

Also in the video you can see the updated File Explorer, the concept of the new Start menu with a tiled interface, Internet Explorer 9 and a widget panel that vaguely resembles the one that appeared in Windows 11.
