Softbank-backed Inmobi’s Glance expects the viewer base of its Hyperlive shows to touch 25 million within a year.
The company currently has 10 million viewers of Hyperlive shows that run on the lock screen of mobile phones.
“There are currently around 10 million viewers per day watching Hyperlive. Over the next few months, Glance expects that number to grow to 25 million per day,” Rohan Choudhary, vice president and general manager of Glance Feed, said on Monday.
Glance claims that around 90 percent of smartphones are present in the country.
The company’s Hyperlive platform has been launched on select smartphones from Xiaomi, Samsung, etc. and will gradually roll out on devices from around 7-8 brands.
On Independence Day, Glance hosted 30 Hyperlive shows on Independence Day to celebrate the spirit of India, including a show with Common Wealth Games medal winners like Tulika Maan, Eldehose Paul, Sushila Devi, Sagar Ahlawat etc.
To commemorate the occasion, Glance has lit up all its lock screens by making the Indian national flag.
While Glance’s lock screen displayed images, Hyperlive provides access to shows.
“Our vision has always been to add value to people’s digital lives. Over the past 15 years, we have built global brands that have consistently shared the stage with some of the world’s biggest technology innovators. We remain committed to our role in growing Digital India,” said InMobi Founder and CEO Naveen Tiwari Group.
The company also used Hyperlive for social commerce, allowing its viewers to purchase items they see on the show.
