Google recently introduced a new swipe action swipe to its Android app. This is a small update but offers a refreshing view of Gmail. Not available in the Gmail app for iOS yet.
Gmail provides email swipe actions that are shortcuts for archiving, deleting, marking as unread / unread, forwarding, and filtering emails. These swipe actions are separated by a background color. Google offers two left and right swipe actions that can be customized in the settings menu. In a new update, Google has added animated action photos, reports 9to5Google.
New animation action switches are now live in Gmail for Android app. You will need the latest version 2021.03.07 app to see new swipe actions. No name for when swipe actions will be available in the iOS app. Deleting a post will indicate that the trash can close the opening, while archiving moves the arrow in the box. Snooze email will show a wink clock, and a read / unmarked marker will show an envelope icon to open and close.
This update comes shortly after Google merged ‘Chat’ and ‘Rooms’ in Gmail. New chat tabs and rooms can be activated from the Gmail app’s settings menu. The Chat tab will display individual messages and small group chats. Large chat rooms with groups and the ability to share chat, files and activities. These features are available to Google Workspace users, and have been released to larger users.
