Google announces 250 million devices now running Android Go edition

Google announced that more than 250 million monthly active devices are using Android Go after the company announced the release of Android 13 (Go edition).

The tech giant focused on three main features in Android 13 – reliability, usability and customization.

Android 13 adds Google Play system updates to Go devices, helping to ensure that devices receive important software updates frequently.

The Go Edition comes with built-in intelligence to help make better use of the phone, the company said.

The update offers a “Discover” feature that allows users to swipe right from the home screen to view a list of articles and other content.

The new version includes Material You, which allows users to customize the color scheme of their smartphone to match the wallpaper.

Users get four matching color schemes to choose from after setting the wallpaper image. This helps the device feel unique to the user.

The update also brings features like ‘Notification Permissions’, ‘App Language Preferences’ and more.

“Our goal in this release is to support more options for the millions of current and future Android Go device owners,” the company said in a blog post.
