How to enable stickers for Windows 11 desktop (build 22621+)

In February of this year, an Albacore insider discovered Preview builds of Windows 11 have a new feature called Stickers that lets you place stickers on top of your desktop wallpaper. Interestingly, the feature is present in the RTM build of Windows 11 22H2 (Build 22621), so it may well be introduced before the release of this version of the OS. Now the function is hidden from prying eyes, but you can enable it according to the instructions below.

To add stickers, you need to right-click on the desktop and select the new option “Add and change stickers”. After that, a new user interface for adding and editing stickers will appear on the screen. In edit mode, the taskbar and desktop icons are not displayed.

In the sticker selection window, you can find dozens of different images. If you want to find something specific, you can use the search box. Clicking on the selected sticker will place the image in the upper left corner of the desktop. After that, you can move the sticker to any other place and resize it using the suggested controls.

  1. Open the Run window using the shortcut WIN + R.
  2. Enter regedit and press Enterto open the Registry Editor.
  3. Go to section HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftPolicyManagercurrentdeviceStickers.
    • Note that this section may not be present by default. If so, then right-click on the section device on the sidebar, select “Create” -> “Section” and enter a title Stickers.
  4. Right-click on any free space and select New -> DWORD (32-bit) Value.
  5. Give the created element a name. EnableStickers.
  6. Double click to edit EnableStickers and set a value for it 1.
  7. Restart your computer.

You can also use a ready-made .reg file to enable the feature. Just download the archive stickers-enable [354 b]

open it, run stickers-enable.reg and agree to merge. After that, you need to restart your computer.
