Instagram has not yet introduced the external prototype of candid features, reports say.

Instagram begins testing a new “reposts” feature similar to Twitter, Facebook

American photo and video sharing platform Instagram is testing a new feature that mimics other social networks.

According to The Verge, TechCrunch reported that Instagram has confirmed tests of a “reposts” feature that will push someone else’s content onto your own timeline.

This feature will be similar to Twitter retweets or the kind of sharing that is common on Tumblr and Facebook and is also being tested on TikTok.

TechCrunch reported that the “repost” feature was spotted on Wednesday by Matt Navarra, a social media consultant who posted the images in a Twitter thread.

Sharing someone else’s post for your own followers to see isn’t exactly new to Instagram users. Users could share public posts to their followers, but only to their Instagram story or through direct messages.

Now, the test would allow users to share a post on their feeds without having to screenshot it and repost it or go through another feed, The Verge reported.

In addition to reposting within your own feed, Instagram has tweaked its cross-platform sharing options.

It now pushes share buttons on Snapchat, Messenger or WhatsApp before sharing directly to DM, again similar to TikTok’s approach.

Instagram has returned a test that pushed the app toward a full-screen AI-powered image and video feed, part of its apparent slow transformation into TikTok, according to The Verge.
