Instructions: Enable the new Widgets panel design in Windows 11 Build 22623.746+ (Beta) and Build 25217+ (Dev)

Windows 11 Insider Build 25227 Dev channel began testing a new design for the Widgets panel, which includes new intuitive icons and new visual effects. It’s worth noting that there are multiple variations of the Widgets UI, but users will randomly get one of them and not be able to switch to the other.

Unfortunately, the change is again only available to some Insiders as part of A/B testing. If you don’t see the new design on your computer, but want to test it, you can use the ViveTool utility and our instructions. The new Widgets design will be enabled in Windows 11 Build 22623.746 (Beta) and Build 25217 (Dev), as well as newer builds.

Instruction

  1. Download the ViVeTool utility by this link. This is a new version of ViveTool 0.3.2, details of which we have covered in our material.
  2. Unpack the downloaded archive to any place on your computer (for example, you can create a ViVeTool folder in the root of the C: drive and place the files there).
  3. Open a command prompt as an administrator (for example, by typing CMD in the search and selecting the appropriate item).
  4. In the command line, navigate to the folder with ViVeTool using the command cd /d , then press Enter. For example: cd /d "C:\ViVeTool"
  5. Enter command vivetool /enable /id:40772499 /store:both and press Enter.
  6. Make sure that the command line shows the message “Successfully set feature configuration”
  7. Restart your computer to apply the changes.

If you want to disable the features, then use the following command:

  • vivetool /disable /id:40772499 /store:both
