Apple has released a new update for the iPhone and iPad that brings significant security improvements to a group of critical issues. IOS 14.4.2, as Apple explains, “provides important security updates and is recommended for all users”. Apple also said the upgrade included a Webkit fix that may have been severely exploited.
Apple has previously stated that a bug in the Webkit may have allowed malicious websites to do scripting and is unaware of reports that the bug is being exploited in the wild.
This iOS 14.4.2 comes just days before the beta release of iOS 14.5 and Apple is expected to release these beta developer features for iOS 14.5 next month.
IOS 14.5 will come with a host of new features, especially the ability to unlock the Apple iPhone with the Apple Watch. This new feature will help fix the problem of not being able to use face unlock and mask.
IOS 14.5 will also introduce App Performance Improvements that will show new authorization conversations to apps before they can share user-related information with apps and third parties.
Apple has also released the Apple Watch watch 7.3.3 and patch update on iOS 12, version 12.5.2, iPhone 6, iPhone 5s, third-gen iPad mini, first-gen iPad Air and sixth-gen iPod Touch users.
