Lava International’s 5G smartphone was unveiled by Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at the India Mobile Congress in Delhi. Priced at ₹10,000, the Lava Blaze 5G is set to become the cheapest 5G smartphone in India. An affordable 5G smartphone will be launched before Diwali.
Lava International president and chief business officer Sunil Raina had earlier expressed his desire to introduce an affordable 5G smartphone for India. Priced at ₹ 10,000, the Lava Blaze 5G is likely to fulfill the agenda.
The phone is believed to have a glass back and will look similar to the Lava Blaze Pro that the company launched recently. It is powered by a MediaTek chipset and houses a 5,000 mAh battery.
The Lava Blaze 5G will be available in blue and green colors.
“It has always been our wish to develop an affordable 5G smartphone made in India. This product is in line with the larger vision of bringing the next generation of 5G technology to Indians at an affordable price. With the launch of this smartphone, we are making the power of 5G technology available to everyone,” said President and Chief Commercial Officer, Lava International Sunil Raina.
Pre-bookings for the Lava Blaze 5G will start around Diwali this year, he said. Built on the Media Tek Dimensity 700 chipset, the smartphone will sport a 50-megapixel (MP) AI triple rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera and will come with anonymous call recording feature.
This phone from Lava packs 128GB of internal storage which can be further expanded by installing a microSD card. The 5G smartphone runs on Android 12 operating system and comes with dual SIM support.
The Lava Blaze 5G has a 6.5-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and a refresh rate of 90 Hz.
“The new 5G smartphone aims to make cutting-edge technology accessible to all. This collaboration is part of our commitment to support the government’s Design in India vision,” MediaTek India Managing Director Anku Jain said.
