Looks like Windows 11 22H2 will be released as Windows 11 2022 Update

Despite the fact that Microsoft has not yet announced Windows 11 version 22H2, preparations for the upcoming release of the first functional update for Windows 11 are in full swing. So, some users have noticed an updated welcome in the Get Started app:

You are now using Windows 11 2022 Update! Check out the new features and customize everything the way you like.

It is likely that Windows 11 2022 Update will be the official marketing name for the new version of the operating system. This makes sense, given that major updates for Windows 10 and Windows 11 are now released once a year. From now on, no “May 20XX Update” or “November 20XX Update”!

According to rumors, Windows 11 2022 Update (version 22H2) will be released on September 20th. But the date has not been officially confirmed, which means it can still change.

There are also rumors that Microsoft decided to return to the traditional three-year Windows development cycle that was used before the transition to the Windows as a Service concept. If this is true, then the next major release of the client version of Windows will not take place until 2024. Features planned for 2023 will be added to the Windows 11 2022 Update via cumulative updates.
