Meet Sonnet Mondal: Indian poet to perform at Pesttext International Literary Festival

Many literary festivals around the world are experiencing a tangible return as the world returns to normal after two years of periodic shutdowns. Indian-English poet Sonnet Mondal, who is based in Kolkata, has been invited to three top literary festivals in Hungary, South Africa and Turkey in the coming months of October and November.

Literary festivals at which Sonnet will perform include Pestext International Literary Festival, Budapest, Hungary; followed by Poetry Africa International Festival, Durban, South Africa; and Offline Istanbul International Poetry Festival, Istanbul, Turkey.

Excited about the invitations, Mondal said, “The poems I will be reading will be mostly from this book and some poems from my previous book, Karmic Chants.”

Earlier this year, Copper Coin Publishing published Mondal’s latest book, Afternoon in My Mind.

During these festivals, the original English versions of Mondal’s poems will be read, along with their translations into Hungarian and Turkish.
The themes of Sonnet Mondal’s poetry include nature, society, nostalgia and the desire to look back at the past without changing its direction.
