Microsoft and Canonical release .NET 6 for Ubuntu 22.04

Microsoft announced about the release of .NET 6 for Ubuntu 22.04, which means that developers can now quickly start building .NET applications on Linux.

.NET 6 SDK is installed using the command apt install dotnet6 through the Terminal. In addition, ASP.NET Core (aspnet-runtime-6.0) and .NET Runtime (dotnet-runtime-6.0) packages have been released and installed in the same way. Microsoft promises that it will continue to work with Canonical to release package updates on a monthly basis so that developers are not deprived of new features and fixes.

It is important to note that packages for the ARM64 architecture are not currently available, but work in this direction is underway. .NET 7 packages will be published after the public release of the platform.

Also, .NET 6 is now available in Ubuntu Chisels containers to keep the software distribution small in size as each package contains only the necessary paths and files. The .NET packages for Ubuntu Chisels are also smaller than usual, around 100MB in size.
