Microsoft has announced an expansion of its partnership with OpenAI, a company that develops and licenses technologies based on machine learning. As part of the deal, Azure will become the exclusive cloud provider for OpenAI, and Microsoft will increase its investment in supercomputing to help OpenAI improve machine learning models. It is also reported that Microsoft intends to integrate OpenAI developments into its consumer and corporate products.
“We partnered with OpenAI out of a shared commitment to responsibly advance cutting-edge AI research and democratize AI as an emerging technology platform,” said Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. “In the next phase of our collaboration, developers and organizations across industries will have access to the best AI infrastructure, models, and tools in Azure to build and run their applications.”
By the way, at the beginning of this month, rumors appeared on the network that Microsoft intends to invest $10 billion in OpenAI. It was reported that as part of this deal, Microsoft will receive a 49% stake in OpenAI. In today’s statement, the amount of investment and additional conditions were not specified.
