Microsoft has begun rolling out the stable version of Microsoft Edge 106 (106.0.1370.34), which brings with it improved web security and a few other changes.
Component Updates
- Improved online protection. Working on the Internet has become more secure due to the rewritten library Microsoft Defender SmartScreen for Microsoft Edge on Windows. Starting with Microsoft Edge 106 policy NewSmartScreenLibraryEnabled is deprecated and will be removed in Microsoft Edge 107.
- Increased the number of results in the address bar for work accounts. The address bar now displays four items related to your work. Feature requires policy to be enabled AddressBarMicrosoftSearchInBingProviderEnabled.
New Policies
- EfficiencyModeEnabled — turns on the efficiency mode.
- EfficiencyModeOnPowerEnabled – Enables efficiency mode when the device is connected to a power source.
- InternetExplorerIntegrationAlwaysUseOSCapture – Forces the use of the image capture mechanism from the OS to avoid problems with capturing Internet Explorer mode tabs.
Deprecated Policies
- NewSmartScreenLibraryEnabled – includes the new SmartScreen library.
- ShadowStackCrashRollbackBehavior – Configures the rollback behavior when the ShadowStack fails.
Remote Policies
- OutlookHubMenuEnabled – Allows users to access the Outlook menu.
- EdgeDiscoverEnabled – Enables the “Discover” feature in Microsoft Edge.
