Microsoft has confirmed and released a fix for a bug in Windows 11 that prevented some users from signing in after adding a new Microsoft account. The problem is reported to have occurred after installing an optional update KB5016691 (build 22000.918) released August 25th.
According to the company’s explanation, the issue only affects users with Microsoft accounts and does not affect Active Directory or Azure AD accounts. The error only occurs if you add a new Microsoft account to the system after installing this update. The problem only occurs the first time you try to log in and should go away on its own after a while.
The problem in the operating system is fixed with the help of technology Known Issue Rollback (KIR), which allows you to remotely disable problematic non-security fixes. The fix will apply to all consumer and unmanaged business devices within 24 hours. To get the fix faster, just restart your computer.
