Microsoft has renamed Office Web App to Microsoft 365

At Ignite 2022, Microsoft unveiled a major update to the Office app for Windows, Android, and iOS that brings an updated user interface and several new features. In addition, the application was renamed to “Microsoft 365” to align with the service of the same name. You can see the new logo in the image above.

Recall that the old Office application allowed you to create new documents, view a list of recently opened documents, and access local and cloud files and content. The update will bring with it the following innovations and improvements:

  • New Ribbonto keep you up to date with events. For example, you can see a list of the shared files that users are currently working on, as well as the actual content in card format.
  • Application module. The company has redesigned the interface for accessing any Microsoft 365 app and related third-party apps. The application module will now be available on mobile devices.
  • Tags. A new intuitive way to organize the work of users, regardless of where files are stored.

Users are expected to start getting the new Microsoft 365 App this November. It’s still web-based, so Microsoft can provide the same experience across platforms, whether it’s a web browser, Windows, or mobile OS.
