Microsoft is preparing a Windows HDR Calibration app for Windows 11

The Xbox HDR Game Calibration app has long been available on Xbox game consoles to help your displays and games work together when using high dynamic range (HDR). There is no such application in the Windows operating system, so light and dark areas of the screen may lose important visual details due to inconsistencies in HDR settings.

To solve this problem, Microsoft has prepared the Windows HDR Calibration application, which is designed to solve the problem with color consistency and accuracy on displays connected to a PC.

At the moment, it is not known when this application will appear in the Microsoft Store, but its mentions have already appeared in the latest Windows 11 Insider Dev Channel Build. It is also unknown if the app will support Windows 10.

Windows HDR Calibration is expected to have three test patterns:

  1. To determine the darkest visible detail that you can see;
  2. To determine the brightest visible detail;
  3. To determine the maximum brightness of your display.

There is no additional information about the application yet.
