Microsoft laid off about 1,000 employees this week, people familiar with the matter said. It is known that cuts have affected many divisions, including Xbox, Experiences + Devices, as well as the advanced organization Microsoft Strategic Missions and Technology.
Even those employees who had worked in the corporation for about 20 years were made redundant. For example, Microsoft fired KC Lemson, who until now served as product manager in the office of chief technology officer.
“Like all companies, we regularly evaluate the performance of our people and make structural changes accordingly,” a Microsoft spokesperson said. “We will continue to invest in our business and hire in key growth areas next year.”
Recall that in July this year, Microsoft announced its intention to cut less than 1% of employees. Now the corporation employs about 180 thousand people. Microsoft also decided to slow down recruitment due to the risk of a recession.
