Microsoft Starts Bringing Gaming Features to Edge Browser for Windows 10 and 11

Microsoft announced about the beginning of the rollout of several gaming features for the Edge browser in Windows 10 and Windows 11. Innovations are intended to draw the attention of gamers to the default browser in the operating system.

Microsoft Corporate Vice President Liat Ben-Zur said:

“Microsoft has a strong focus on games, and as we recently announced, we’re building a platform for the next 20 years that gives users the games they want on any device they want to play on. Our teams at all levels of the company continue to work together to deliver an amazing gaming experience across all devices, whether you enjoy playing on an Xbox console, Windows PC, phone or tablet. As part of this exciting work, Microsoft Edge is evolving to meet the needs of gamers and help make gaming accessible to everyone, everywhere.”

Microsoft has also introduced a new “Efficiency Mode” in Edge that will automatically reduce the browser’s resource consumption when you launch a game on Windows. After you close the game, Edge will pick up where you left off. In addition, Microsoft has improved the quality of game streaming through Xbox Cloud Gaming with the Clarity Boost feature in the Edge browser.

List of new features in Edge:

  • New homepage for gamers with gaming news, guides, streams and more.
  • New sidebar to search for casual browser games.
  • Clarity Boost feature designed to improve the quality of game streaming through Xbox Cloud Gaming.
  • A new “Efficiency Mode” that reduces resource consumption by the browser once the game is launched.

To get the new version of Edge, go to Settings -> About Microsoft Edge and check for updates.
