US space agency NASA took the internet by storm after it shared a rainbow image of Pluto on its official Instagram account. NASA constantly shares amazing photos of celestial bodies on its social media platforms. The space agency on Wednesday (July 20, 2022) released an incredible image of Pluto, located at the farthest edge of our solar system, that set the internet on fire.
“Where does the rainbow end? Pluto isn’t actually a psychedelic riot of color — this morphed color image was created by New Horizons scientists to highlight the many subtle color differences between distinct regions of the planet,” NASA said in a post.
“Pluto has a complex, varied surface with jagged Europa-like mountains, networks of hollowed-out valleys, old heavily cratered terrain sitting next to new, smooth ice plains, and even what could be wind-blown dunes,” he added. .
Meanwhile, the post has received more than 9.20 million likes and thousands of comments on Instagram. The photo was taken by the New Horizons probe, which launched on January 19, 2006. New Horizons completed a six-month flyby of Pluto and its moons in the summer of 2015 and continues to explore the distant solar system.
