Microsoft has released updated versions of Notepad and Media Player for users of Windows 11 Insider Builds. The new versions will be available in the Microsoft Store in the coming hours.
- Native ARM64 support. Improved Notepad experience on ARM64 devices from version 11.2204 and up, available across all channels of the Windows Insider Program. When using the application, you will surely notice performance improvements.
- Improved performance. The performance of the application on all devices has also been significantly improved. You will notice changes when scrolling through very large files or replacing large text. Improvements are included in version 11.2205 (or higher) which is available on the Dev channel.
- Improved accessibility support. Microsoft has improved support for screen readers, text zoom, keyboard shortcuts, and other assistive technologies. Changes are available in version 11.2204 (and later) across all Windows Insider channels. There are additional improvements in version 11.2205 (and later), but this version is currently only available on the Dev channel.
Microsoft has begun distributing an updated version of the Media Player app (11.2205) to Insiders on the Dev channel. The new version improves performance when you have a large media collection, and adds the ability to sort songs and albums in collections by date added.
In addition, in March, the company began testing support for CD playback. Improvements have been made to better adapt the app to theme changes and to drag and drop media content. These changes are now available to all members of the Windows Insider Program.
