Chief Executive Officer of Meta Platforms Inc. Mark Zuckerberg confirmed that the company is building a technology platform for users to display their NFTs on Instagram and “insert” other NFTs into the app, according to a Bloomberg report.
“We are working to bring the NFTs to Instagram soon,” he said during an interview at the South by Southwest conference on Tuesday, but declined to give details of when and how the feature could work. Zuckerberg spent most of the nearly $ 50. -a long-minute conversation about the so-called metaverse, his vision for a focused online version.
Former Meta chief David Marcus said last August the company was looking to build NFT features next to the company’s Novi digital portfolio. At the SXSW conference, held in Austin, Texas, Zuckerberg reiterated the Ukrainian war, calling it the “most devastating global event” – his first public comment since the conflict began last month, Bloomberg reported.
According to The Verge, just last year, Instagram leader Adam Mosseri said the group was “actively monitoring the NFTs” but had no real announcements. In January, we heard a report that groups on Facebook and Instagram were working on NFT mergers. The report noted that there have been improvements in the features that allow you to use NFT as a profile and integrate local NFTs with discussions about market creation.
Instagram will not be the first major social media platform with NFT integration. Earlier this year, Twitter introduced a feature that allows certain users to set their own NFT as their profile picture. Then they appear as hexagons, and anyone interested can click to view NFT metadata. Considering how often TikTok features end up with a near carbon copy on Instagram, it would not be surprising to see the Meta photo sharing app (er, “entertainment”) do the same.
