Realme Flat Monitor FullHD

Realme Flat Monitor FullHD review: Basic but makes a good secondary screen

From smart TVs to laptops, tablets, speakers and power banks, Chinese electronics maker Realme has a diverse product portfolio in India. Fresh in the line is the Realme FullHD flat monitor. This 23.8-inch screen boasts a slim design with a bezel-less profile on the front, an IPS screen with FullHD resolution and a 75Hz refresh rate, and a USB-C port in addition to VGA and HDMI for connectivity. Priced at Rs 12,999, the Realme FullHD flat monitor seems to be a value proposition in the entry-level segment. it is so? Let’s find out:

Design

The Realme Flat Monitor FullHD is a basic monitor, but it doesn’t look like one. It has a premium design language that is hard to find in its segment. The monitor has a slim profile with a waist width of 6.9mm on the thinnest side. In addition, it has a full-screen bezel-less profile on the front. The design is complemented by a metal stand that is robust and without any bending. The stand is neither big nor small, but it’s just the right size to fit even busy tables. This is important because the monitor does not support wall mounting. While the overall design is good, there are areas where Realme could do better. For example, viewing angle settings are limited and you cannot move the screen to the right or left.

Performance

The design doesn’t reveal the monitor’s budget, but its screen does. The screen is bright and rich in pixels (fullHD), but lacks contrast. The colors on the screen look washed out and the dynamic range is lacking. That said, the screen is good for the price, but don’t expect premium performance. On the plus side, viewing angles are good and the 75Hz refresh rate is a redeeming feature. In addition, there is a USB-C port for connectivity – something unusual for cheap monitors. There are also HDMI and VGA ports, making it compatible with older generation devices. However, the lack of built-in speakers limits its usability.

Statement

The Realme Flat Monitor FullHD is basic, but it’s a good secondary screen for expanding or duplicating your PC display. Consider it for its premium design, fullHD screen, 75Hz refresh rate and USB-C connection. These features are unusual for entry-level monitors. If you need a color-accurate screen, look elsewhere, as this one is below par in terms of color, contrast and dynamic range.
