Rumor: Microsoft is developing a Surface Gaming laptop

For a long time, Microsoft has built the Surface line of devices that are exceptionally thin and light, offering optimal performance for creativity and business. But it looks like that may soon change.

Portal Prime Gaming published the technical specifications of a previously unknown Surface device that will offer really high performance. It is reported that it will be a gaming laptop with the presumed name Surface Gaming.

So, according to published data, Surface Gaming received a 16-inch PixelSense Flow screen with a resolution of 2560 × 1440, a frequency of 165 Hz and support for Dobly Vision. Device dimensions – 357.4 mm x 245.1 mm x 19.6 mm. The body of the device is made of magnesium-aluminum alloy. The laptop will be available in Platinum and Matte Black colors.

The novelty will be built on the basis of Intel Core i7-12700H (14 cores) and Core i5-12500H (12 cores) processors and will receive from 16 GB to 32 GB of LPDDR4x RAM. Core i7 models will ship with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti (8 GB) graphics chip, while the Core i5 version will only get an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti (4 GB). Buyers will be able to choose between 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB SSD versions.

Based on published specs, Surface Gaming with a Core i7 processor will be able to deliver up to 15 hours of battery life during normal use. The Core i5 version should last up to 16 hours.

As for ports, the Surface Gaming will get three USB 4.0/Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a Surface Connect port. The specifications also indicate support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1.

Since the laptop is designed for gamers, it will come with a 1 month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. The Xbox app will also be preinstalled on the device.
