Samsung on Wednesday announced two new smartphones under the Galaxy A-series, the company’s latest flagship in the premium mid-range market. Both Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72 will help the world’s largest smartphone maker to attract smartphone users who are not willing to pay for the Galaxy S21 series but still want devices with the latest features.
The new Galaxy A-series phones will be available from € 349 (approximately Rs 30,180) and cost less than the Galaxy S21 range. The Samsung Galaxy A52 is priced at Euro 349 (approximately Rs 30,180). The 5G model for the same device will cost Euro 429 (approximately Rs 37,100). On the other hand, the Galaxy A72 will sell for Euro 449 (approximately Rs 38,830). Historically, the Galaxy A-series was more valuable than the Galaxy M-series, the mid-range range of Samsung.
The Galaxy A52 is considered Samsung’s card to provide the same category where players like Vivo and Oppo are gaining traction, especially in India. The phone features a 6.5-inch FHD + 120Hz Super AMOLED display, which means that web pages and videos will open faster, compared to 60Hz in the previous generation model. Remarkably, the Galaxy A52 also has an IP67 water and dust resistance rating, something no other phone offers in this price range. Samsung also brought stereo speakers to the Galaxy A52 and Dolby Atmos enhancements.

Samsung is focusing more on cameras on the Galaxy A52, with a device with a quad camera setting in the back. The Galaxy A52 has a 64MP OIS main camera, a 12MP wide lens, a 5MP depth camera and a 5MP macro lens. At the front, there is a 32MP selfie camera.
A South Korean official said he plans to sell two Galaxy A52 models on the market, one with 5G and the other with LTE connectivity. To prevent 5G shortages for LTE variants only, the phone features a 90Hz Super AMOLED display unlike the 120Hz screen on the Galaxy A52 5G. Both phones include a 4500mAh battery, Galaxy SmartTag support, a fingerprint scanner, and MicroSD card space. Devices are powered by an Octa-core processor.
Samsung also announced the Galaxy A72 LTE, which is exactly the same as the Galaxy A52 LTE but comes with a slightly larger 6.7-inch screen and an 8MP three-dimensional camera. The company promises two days of battery life on the Galaxy A72.
With the new Galaxy A series, Samsung is exploring the part where Apple is not so much. Both the Galaxy A52 and A72 are intended to appeal to emerging markets where the popularity of medium-sized smartphones is high.
