Snapchat checks TikTok-like ‘Duets’ feature

Snapchat explores another feature inspired by TikTok that allows users to reconnect their Snap. It is similar to TikTok ‘Duets’ feature where two users can record videos and place them next to each other in different ways.

A new feature of Snapchat was spotted by Alessandro Paluzzi who shared screenshots of ”˜Remix”™ on Twitter. According to the current survey, Snapchat users can respond to a friend’s story with a mixed Snap. The ‘Remix Snap’ option appears in the menu with options for reporting or sending Snap. Once users have selected the remix option they will be presented with a screen to record their Snap.

There are different layout options available for users to place Snaps up and down, or sideways. They can also set one Snap as a background image and another small window against it. The recorded Snap will play next to the first one. This is exactly what TikTok offers for the Duts, and it is surprisingly copied via Instagram.

Snapchat also allows users to tag friends or other people who can reconnect their Snap and share it with them. Snap has confirmed to TechCrunch that this feature is being tested externally but there is no word on when it will be officially released. From now on, reassembling Snap is only possible with news responses. It is expected to extend to the opposing aspect of TikTok-Snapchat rival as well. Launched last year in India recently, Spotlight allows users to upload up to 60 seconds of videos from a vertical print system.
