Sony shared new information about the updated PlayStation Plus subscription, which will launch in all regions before the end of June. Recall that two of the three subscription levels will provide access to a periodically changing collection of games, which will make the service more similar to Xbox Game Pass. But there is one major difference: Sony will not be adding its major exclusives, such as Horizon Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7, to the subscription catalog on the first day.
PlayStation Plus Upgrade Tiers:
Provides the same features as the current PlayStation Plus: two monthly downloads, exclusive discounts, cloud saves and multiplayer.
The subscription price will remain the same as the current PlayStation Plus – $9.99 per month or $59.99 per year.
PlayStation Plus Extra
All the features of the Essential level.
Nearly 400 games for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 from both PlayStation Studios and partners.
The subscription price is $14.99 per month or $99.99 per year.
PlayStation Plus Premium
All the features of the Essential and Extra levels.
Nearly 340 additional games from PS3, PS2, PS and PSP. It is noted that downloading games from the PlayStation 3 will not work, so you will have to use streaming from the cloud.
Stream PS, PS2, PSP, and PS4 games available with Extra and Premium subscriptions. The feature will only be available in countries where PlayStation Now is available. It will be possible to stream games on both PS4 and PS5, as well as on PC.
Limited game trials so you can try them out before you buy.
The subscription price is $17.99 per month or $119.99 per year.
Sony notes that PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers will be able to access a collection of classic games, some of which have received higher resolution and frame rates than the original versions. Games will also receive an updated user interface with the ability to save at any time and the rewind function. By the way, if you purchased the digital version of the game from PlayStation 1 or PSP, you can also play the enhanced versions at no additional cost.
And finally, the PlayStation Plus Premium subscription will provide players with two-hour game trials. If you decide to purchase the game, your saves will be transferred to the full copy of the game. At launch, the subscription will offer trial versions of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, Horizon Forbidden West, Cyberpunk 2077, Farming Simulator 2022, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, and WWE 2K22.
