Testing of the new web-based Outlook for Windows application began in May of this year, but at that time only corporate clients of the company and some members of the Office Insider program on the Beta channel could evaluate it. Now Microsoft announcedthat the new app is now available to all Office Insiders in the Current channel, whether they have a personal or corporate Microsoft 365 subscription.
Moreover, the company has confirmed that the app will begin rolling out to Windows 10 and Windows 11 users in the coming weeks as a potential replacement for the UWP Mail app. To start testing, you will need to open the Mail application and use the New Outlook switch in the upper right corner.
The new version of Outlook for Windows now officially supports personal Microsoft accounts. But it is not yet possible to add accounts from other mail services. The developers promise that this feature will appear in the coming months. By the way, without an Internet connection, the application also does not know how to work yet.
Outlook for Windows has received several improvements since it began testing. In particular, Microsoft has introduced a toolbar at the top of the screen, added new tooltips, and improved the app’s interface.
