There was a major outage in Microsoft services

Starting at 07:05 UTC on January 25, 2023, users may experience network connectivity issues that manifest as network delays and/or timeouts when trying to connect to Azure resources in Public Azure regions, as well as other Microsoft services, including M365 , PowerBI.

We have determined that the network connectivity issue occurs when connecting through the Microsoft Wide Area Network (WAN). We have determined that the network connectivity issue is occurring on Microsoft Wide Area Network (WAN) devices. This affects the ability of clients to connect over the Internet to Azure, connectivity between services in datacenters, and ExpressRoute connections. The problem manifests itself in waves, reaching a peak about every 30 minutes.

We have concluded that a recent WAN update is the likely cause and have taken steps to roll back that update. Our latest telemetry shows signs of recovery in many regions and services, and we continue to actively monitor the situation.
