WhatsApp soon will let users transfer Android, iOS devices

WhatsApp will soon make it easier for you to transfer conversations between Android and iOS if you plan to switch from Android to iPhone. This communication giant plans to allow users to officially transfer their chat history between these two different platforms.

Currently, there is no official way to transfer WhatsApp chat history between new devices, but the chat platform plans to update that soon for its users.

When you switch from iOS to Android or Android to iOS, WhatsApp transmits your account information including your profile picture, name, about, individual chats, group chats, and settings, but does not relay your history of conversation.

The messaging app lets you back up your data to a third party cloud storage app, but it doesn’t support the migration of chat history from one device to another.

Upcoming WhatsApp update for iOS and Android

The upcoming WhatsApp update for iOS and Android will bring the opportunity to transfer chat histories from iOS to Android and vice versa, ANI news agency reported.

The website also shares a screenshot, showing that the user needs to use the latest version of WhatsApp to transfer chat history to the Android phone.

The store has provided a screenshot of the upcoming feature without providing any hidden features to the app. And there is no word on when something new may appear.

According to Mashable India, there are a few tools that claim to transfer user chat history between WhatsApp on Android and iOS but they may be unreliable and using them violates WhatsApp’s terms of service.

On the other hand, WhatsApp competitors such as Signal and Viber offer this functionality, so WhatsApp may want to meet this feature considering it to be the forerunner of a new platform update.

The exact date of release of this feature is unknown. However, it can come with many device features. Lastly, you will soon be able to use WhatsApp on multiple devices, as per the report.
