Good afternoon, friends! Sorry for being late Microsoft has released a new pre-build of Windows 10, numbered 20175, for Windows Insider members who use the Dev channel (formerly “Early access”). This build is available for AMD-based devices.

Full build number: Windows 10 Insider 20175.1000. rs_prerelease 200717-1349.

Attention! Insider builds numbered 20161 and below expire on July 31. We recommend that you upgrade to builds 20170 or later before the expiration date.

We remind you that the Dev channel produces builds that can contain quite unpleasant errors. If you need more stability, we recommend switching to Beta channels (Late access) or Release Preview.

Improving pinned sites in Microsoft Edge

In an earlier build, Microsoft announced the ability to switch between apps and open websites in Microsoft Edge using Alt + Tab. This is the first productivity improvement made for Microsoft Edge in Windows 10. Now the company is announcing another feature in development that will make web browsing even more efficient.

This is about providing quick access to tabs for pinned websites in the taskbar. When you click on a site in the taskbar, you will see all the open tabs for that site in any of the open Microsoft Edge Windows. Similarly, you can switch between several open Windows of the same application.

The feature is currently available to a limited number of insiders and requires Microsoft Edge Insider Build 85.0.561.0 or later (Canary or Dev channels).

Note. Since the feature is currently under testing, existing websites in the taskbar will not be able to use the new feature until you delete them and re-pin them to the taskbar.

The Announcement Of The Reset-AppxPackage

For quite a long time, users can reset the settings of UWP apps via “Settings”. In the new build, this feature will also be available via PowerShell. To do this, you will need the name of the APPX package, so the command used may look like this:

>> Get-AppxPackage *calculator* | Reset-AppxPackage

Now, if necessary, you can reset settings via PowerShell for certain operating system components that are not currently available for resetting via “Settings”. For example, this component can be the start menu.

Please note that after using this command, all data associated with this application will be lost.

Improving Eye Contact on Surface Pro X

Thanks to the hardware acceleration capabilities of artificial intelligence in the Microsoft SQ1 processor, Eye Contact allows you to adjust the look during video calls so that it appears that you are looking directly into the camera of your Surface Pro X. Insiders can enable this feature in the Surface app.

Two new icons

Insiders may notice that Microsoft has started distributing updated versions of Sticky Notes and “Sketch on a screen fragment” with new icons made in the style of Fluent Design through the Microsoft Store. These new icons look great in the start menu with the design changes made in build 20161.

• Engineers are working to fix an issue that may cause some games from the Microsoft Store that are protected by Easy Anti-Cheat to fail to launch.
• We are investigating reports that the system update process may stall for a long time when trying to install a new build.
• If clicking on the space bar when using Korean IME in Edge and Chrome removed the last character entered, this problem was fixed in the Chromium project as part of the error number 1099125. The problem will be removed from the known list from the next build.
• Engineers are working to fix an issue that causes the Collapse, Expand, and Close buttons to remain in the original app after resizing the UWP app window. If you move the window, the buttons should move to the desired location.
• We are investigating reports that the new taskbar feature described above does not work with some pinned websites.
• Engineers are working to fix a problem that sometimes means that the “Close all Windows” action on the taskbar doesn’t close all open tabs.
• Engineers are working to fix the problem so that a real-time preview for pinned site tabs will work.
• Engineers are working on enabling a new taskbar feature for already pinned websites. However, you can unpin a site from the taskbar, remove it from the edge://apps page, and then re-pin it.
• Engineers are working to fix an issue where not all open tabs with this domain are displayed for pinned sites. You can fix this problem by pinning the site’s home page instead of a specific section (for example, pin microsoft.com rather than microsoft.com/windows).
• Engineers are working to fix an issue where the Alt + Tab keyboard shortcut on a browser tab sometimes moves a previously active tab to the top of the Alt + Tab list.
