Windows 10 Insider Preview 21343.1000 (rs_prerelease)

Good morning, friends! Microsoft has released a new pre-build of Windows 10 under the number 21343 for Windows Insider program participants using the Dev channel.

We remind you that the Dev channel releases a build that can contain quite unpleasant errors. If you need more stability, we recommend switching to the Beta or Release Preview channels.

Innovations

New icons in the ” Explorer»

Last year, Microsoft began updating icons in Windows 10, starting the process with pre-installed apps. Recently, the icons for “Windows Security”, “Screen Announcer” and “Notepad” have changed. Now the company is ready to take the next step by updating many of the system icons used in the “Explorer”.

Note that after upgrading to this build, all user folders pinned in the Quick Access section will disappear. You can either remember from before updating, and then re-pin from in the section, or pause receiving updates until the problem is fixed.

Windows Sandbox and Application Guard in Microsoft Defender take advantage of the special container technology integrated into Windows 10.

Previously, the container’s runtime environment corresponded to the host. Starting with build 21343, the company introduces a new runtime environment that is specifically designed and optimized for containers. It provides a faster startup of both Windows Sandbox and Application Guard in Microsoft Defender.

It’s also worth adding that Windows Sandbox now includes a new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser. Instructions for getting started with Windows Sandbox can be found on the official website.

Changes and improvements

• The name of the Windows Administration Tools folder in the Start menu has been changed to Windows Tools. The company is working to better organize all the administration tools and system utilities in Windows 10.
• [News and Interests] The taskbar widget is now available to users from China. Please note that the process of distributing the feature to insiders continues, so the widget is not available to all users.
• The new design of the IME candidate window is now available to all insiders on the Dev channel using simplified Chinese.
• The “Get Help” link on the touch keyboard has been renamed to “Learn more”.
• The file renaming feature in File Explorer now supports using CTRL + < left arrow> / to move the cursor between words in the file name, as well as CTRL + Delete and CTRL + Backspace to quickly delete words.
• Some changes have been made to the sections related to Windows network connections so that the symbols displayed there also use the new system icons that were recently added to the insider builds on the Dev channel.
• If a problem with connecting to your account is detected on the General Features page, the notification will be sent directly to the Notification Center. There will be no more repeated pop-up notifications about this.

• Fixed an issue where devices with some NVMe drives could reload the disk or display a GSOD with the WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR error.
• Fixed an issue that caused GSOD to occur on some devices with the DPC_WATCHDOG_ERROR error.
• Fixed an issue where some devices with Realtek network adapters with the driver version 1.0.0.4 could periodically interrupt the Internet connection.
• [News and Interests] Fixed an issue where in some cases the text on the News and Interests button used an incorrect high-contrast colour.
• [News & Interests] Fixed an issue where the News & Interests widget might not be available when logging in to Windows without an Internet connection, but would reappear when connected to the network.

Known issues

• [Games] There is an issue in this build that may cause some games to crash, save syncing may not work if you are playing on a different device, or data may not be saved when you install a new game. Engineers are working to fix this problem. If you believe that the problem may affect you, we recommend that you suspend receiving updates until the patch is released to prevent possible data corruption.
• [Explorer] After installing this build, all the folders pinned in the “Quick Access” section will disappear. Before updating, pay attention to what is pinned there, so that after the update you can find these folders again.
• [Explorer] Some insiders may encounter a problem that will cause the “Quick Access” section to be missing. If you are affected by this issue, delete the file %appdata% MicrosoftWindowsRecentautomaticDestinationsf01b4d95cf55d32a. automatic destination-ms. After that, the section will return, but the items that were attached will be deleted. Engineers are working to fix this problem.
• We are investigating reports that the system update process may hang for a long time when trying to install a new build.
• Engineers are working on enabling a new taskbar feature for already pinned websites. However, you can unpin the site from the taskbar, remove it from the edge://apps page, and then re-pin it.
• [News and Interests] The Esc key closes the pop-up window, not the context menu called up inside the pop-up window.
• [News and interests] Sometimes the pop-up window of news and interesting information cannot be closed with a pen.
• [ARM64] Insiders who installed a preview version of the Qualcomm Adreno graphics driver on the Surface Pro X may experience reduced display brightness. • The Network pop-up menu on the login screen does not open on this build, which means you will not be able to connect to the new network before logging in. • There is a problem in this build that the handwriting panel will not work on devices with ARM64 processors.
• There is an issue in this build that some insiders may have caused the “Search” popup to crash when it starts. Engineers are working on a fix.
