Windows 11 2022 Update (22H2) may not be available for some computer

Microsoft is not currently offering the Windows 11 2022 Update (version 22H2) for some computers with Intel Smart Sound Technology (SST) audio drivers because there is a high chance of BSODs after installing the new system version. It is worth noting that Intel SST is an integrated audio DSP (Digital Signal Processor) that allows the latest Core and Atom series processors to process audio and voice without performance degradation.

“Intel and Microsoft have discovered an incompatibility between some driver versions for Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) on Intel 11th Gen Core processors and Windows 11,” the Windows Health Dashboard page says. “Windows 11 devices with a faulty Intel SST driver may experience a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD).”

Microsoft does not recommend updating computers with Intel Smart Sound Technology (SST) using the Media Creation Tool until the issue is resolved and the restriction is lifted.

Some users can work around the issue by installing the Intel Smart Sound Technology (SST) driver version 10.30.00.5714 or 10.29.00.5714 (later versions will also work). After updating the audio driver, it can take up to 48 hours before Windows 11 2022 Update appears on Windows Update.
