Good evening friends! Microsoft has released a new preview build of Windows 11 25284 for Windows Insider program members using the Dev channel.

New widgets
Appendix Messenger by Meta* now comes with a pre-release widget. To try it out, go to the Microsoft Store, update the app to the latest version, open the widget panel, and pin the Messenger widget to it.

Recall that developers got the opportunity to create their own widgets with the release of Windows App SDK 1.2. This means that there will be more apps with native widgets in the store for the foreseeable future.
*Meta is recognized as an extremist organization and banned in Russia.
Fixes
- Taskbar and system tray:
- We fixed an issue where right-clicking some icons in the “Show Hidden Icons” popup would close the popup instead of opening the context menu for that icon.
- Search on the taskbar (if new field display options are available):
- Fixed a crash in explorer.exe that was related to the search box on the taskbar.
- Input:
- When search suggestions appear while using the Pinyin IME, the keyboard focus will remain on the current option. To move the focus to search suggestions, press the Tab key.
- Window:
- We fixed an issue on touchscreen devices that prevented the title bar from being swiped down from the top of the screen when using certain apps in full screen mode.
- Other:
- We fixed an issue resulting in some apps freezing or crashing when saving files as PDF in previous builds.
- We fixed an issue resulting in previous builds not showing any devices in the “Transfer” popup to connect to an external display using wireless.
Note. Some of the fixes listed above may be included in cumulative updates for release versions of Windows 11.
Known Issues
- Are common:
- [New] Some insiders may have trouble accessing websites and other resources through VPN connections. Details and ways to solve the problem are described on the forum by this link.
- Important! Some ARM64 devices may fail to resume from sleep or hibernation after installing build 25281, causing the system to hang at the Windows logo. To solve the problem, use the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) and roll back the device to a previous build. Instructions can be found by this link.
- Some devices will not work with Windows Hello for face authentication. Users are encouraged to use a PIN to log in.
- Some users are taking longer than expected to install the latest Insider builds. The engineers are investigating the problem.
- We are investigating reports that some Insiders are experiencing browser freezes and some other apps after updating to a previous Dev channel build.
- Widgets:
- [New] Widgets from third parties may disappear from the widget panel. They can be re-added by clicking the Refresh button or by re-pinning them in the Widget Picker.
- [New] Sometimes, third-party widgets can become unpinned from the widget panel if the same Microsoft account is used on multiple Windows 11 devices.
- [New] Sometimes the close button in pop-up notifications from widgets does not work.
- Task bar:
- Sometimes the taskbar is cut in half when using the tablet-optimized version. This issue can also be seen on secondary monitors.
- Search on the taskbar (if new field display options are available):
- There is an issue where it sometimes fails to display the search icon instead of the search field on the taskbar. As a workaround, it is suggested to select any other option, and then enable the display of the search icon.
- Task Manager:
- Some dialog boxes may use the wrong theme if the theme is set in the Task Manager preferences.
- The content area on the Processes page may flash once when changing the theme in the Task Manager settings.
- Windows Spotlight (if versions introduced in build 25281 are available):
- [New] When you click the mouse on the secondary monitor, full screen mode is disabled.
- [New] The system uses the wrong resolution Spotlight wallpaper when multiple monitors with different resolutions are installed.
- [New] In some cases, the desktop wallpaper does not update daily.
I wish you a successful update!
