Microsoft Prepares Experimental Features Section for Windows 11 Insiders » Community

Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25295 Announcement (Dev Channel)

Good morning friends! Microsoft has released a new preview build of Windows 11 25295 for Windows Insider program members using the Dev channel.

Complete build number: 10.0.25295.1000.rs_prerelease.230203-1346.

Policy to enable features disabled by default

With this policy, enterprise customers will be able to enable features introduced as part of a service update (not part of the annual feature update) that are disabled by default on devices with Windows Update Controlled. We are talking about those devices on which Windows update is managed using policies, for example, through Windows Update for Business or using Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).

While this policy is available in Insider builds for the Dev channel, there are currently no features associated with this policy. The policy will soon appear in builds on the Beta channel, where there are already features that will be enabled by this policy. Details about the innovation can be found by this link.

Changes and improvements

  • Are common:
    • Users will now see a button to quickly copy two-factor authentication (2FA) codes in pop-up notifications from apps installed on a PC or smartphone connected to the PC via the Link to Phone app. If the system was unable to detect the code in the toast notification, then submit the appropriate feedback to the Feedback Hub.
  • Search on the taskbar:
    • The new taskbar search that was introduced in Build 25252 is now available to all Insiders in the Dev channel. Insiders can change the search view on the taskbar under Settings -> Personalization -> Taskbar -> Taskbar Items.

  • Are common:
    • We fixed an issue resulting in some Insiders experiencing a persistent GSOD after updating to Build 25284 or newer.
    • We fixed an issue resulting in Insiders experiencing system hangs in previous builds. This happened especially often if you tried to use applications and during the game.
    • We fixed an issue resulting in the Update History page under Settings -> Windows Update being blank for some Insiders after updating to Build 25290.
    • We fixed an issue where some Insiders were taking longer than expected to install the latest Insider builds. If the problem persists, then submit a new feedback to the Feedback Hub.
  • Conductor:
    • We fixed an issue where the create and close tab buttons did not work in File Explorer if the window was maximized to full screen and the interface language was Arabic or Hebrew.
  • Input:
    • We fixed an issue where app windows might become unresponsive to touch after using multi-finger gestures.
    • We fixed an issue where when sharing a screen, the mouse cursor appeared as if traces were enabled.
  • Options:
    • The Add Device dialog should no longer have an overly large border.
  • Window:
    • We fixed an issue that could cause some application windows to move very slowly when dragging across the screen.
    • Fixed a DWM crash that occurred in previous builds that could cause the screen to flash black.
    • We fixed an issue where anchored windows would not remember their position when disconnecting and reconnecting a monitor.
  • Other:
    • Fixed a major issue affecting the ability of applications that use Graphics.Capturetake screenshots in previous builds.
    • Fixed a major issue causing some applications to crash when trying to print to PDF.

Note. Some of the fixes listed above may be included in cumulative updates for release versions of Windows 11.

Known Issues

  • Are common:
    • [Новое] Some AAD users (Azure Active Directory joined) will now see a “Getting Started” screen when they sign in to Windows after updating to the latest Insider Builds. Microsoft is investigating the issue.
    • [Новое] Some users are experiencing authentication issues on corporate websites that require the use of Windows Integrated Authentication. This issue will be resolved in one of the future updates.
    • When launching the Group Policy Editor, you may encounter an error stating that the displayName attribute was not found.
    • Some devices will not work with Windows Hello for face authentication. Users are encouraged to use a PIN to log in.
    • Microsoft is working on a fix for an issue with combase.dll that causes a number of applications that use the GetKnownFolder API to crash, including Notepad and Windows Terminal for IME users. The issue started after updating to build 25290.
    • When using the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) or a clean install of Build 25290, users may encounter rendering issues that make them difficult to use. If you need to perform a clean installation of the system, download the latest build ISO from the Dev channel by navigating to the page
  • Widgets:
  • Task bar:
    • For some Insiders, application icons on the taskbar may appear on the wrong monitor when using a multi-monitor configuration.
  • Search on the taskbar (if new field display options are available):
    • There is an issue where it sometimes fails to display the search icon instead of the search field on the taskbar. As a workaround, it is proposed to select any other option, and then enable the display of the search icon.
  • Windows Spotlight (if versions introduced in build 25281 are available):
    • When you click the mouse on the secondary monitor, full screen mode is disabled.
    • The system uses the wrong resolution Spotlight wallpaper when multiple monitors with different resolutions are installed.

We wish you a successful update!
