Windows 11 on Surface Duo now supports Wi-Fi, mobile data, GPS and more

Renowned enthusiast Gustave Monce has released a new set of drivers that allow you to run Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems on the first generation Surface Duo foldable smartphone. This update adds support for wireless connections, including Wi-Fi, cellular, GPS, and eSIM. It is reported that call support will appear in future updates.

List of changes for version 2207.32, which is available for download from GitHub:

  • Wi-Fi is now working (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz). Obtaining a MAC address does not work yet.
  • Mobile communication is now working (LTEA/LTE/HSDPA+/HSDPA/EDGE/GPRS).
  • Added support for SMS messages. Use the Chat app to send and receive messages.
  • Support for calls, VoLTE, RCS and more will come in future updates.
  • Added eSIM support.
  • GPS is now working.

However, Windows 11 on the Surface Duo still cannot fully replace Android. Calls and the camera do not work in the system yet, there are problems with graphics, automatic detection of screen orientation, and so on. For a complete list of known issues, see on GitHub.
