Innovations

Improved graphics settings
Microsoft has updated the graphics settings page (“Settings” – > “System” – > “Display” – > “graphics Settings”) so that you can better control which GPU your applications are using. Now you can find a large number of applications on the page, each of which has a preferred GPU selected so that it is easier for you to manage this parameter. If the desired application is not on the list, you can add it manually using the drop-down list for selecting applications.
You will also notice that the search field and filter for the list of applications appeared on the page.

Other updates for insiders

Preview of the new Calendar app»

Microsoft offers you a preview of the improved Calendar app for Windows 10. Briefly about the innovations:
New themes: more than 30 different themes are available.
Improved calendar view for the month. Now the calendar for the month includes a panel with an agenda that allows you to quickly find out about the events of the current day.
Simplified event creation. Simplified the process of adding events to the calendar.
Redesigned account navigation. The account navigation bar is now minimized, which frees up additional space for displaying your day’s events. All your synced calendar accounts are now represented as clickable icons on the left.
You can try the preview version by launching the Calendar app and activating the “Try the preview” switch. You can switch to the old version using the same switch.

Bug fixes and improvements

  • Fixed an issue where East Asian IMES (simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, Korean, and Japanese IMES) might not appear in the language switching menu and when using keyboard shortcuts to change the language (for example, WIN + ) after upgrading from build 19041 (20H1) or earlier to insider builds of Windows 10 (build 19536 or later) if multiple languages or keyboard layouts were added. Please note that the fix prevents this problem from occurring, but if it has already affected your device, you will need to manually delete and re-add all keyboard layouts that are not currently available in the language switching menu.
  • Updated the Japanese IME, so that in Microsoft Edge InPrivate mode will automatically enable private IME mode.
  • Fixed an issue where when opening and then closing the clipboard history (WIN + V) without inserting elements, input stopped working in many places in the system.
  • Fixed a rare crash that occurred when opening Windows Ink Workspace.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the Wheel UI to crash (you can see it when using Surface Dial) if any custom commands were not configured.
  • Fixed an issue where the password entry field was not displayed unexpectedly on the login screen.
  • WSL Issue 4860: fixed an issue that caused some insiders to get an error message when using WSL2: “connection Attempt failed”.
  • Fixed one issue where some insiders could not update to new builds due to error 0xc1900101. Microsoft continues to review the logs to investigate additional issues related to this error code.
  • Fixed a problem with the Windows Setup user interface (you can see it when installing from an ISO image or when there are problems with Windows Update, such as lack of disk space) when the apostrophe in the word “you’re” was replaced with unnecessary characters.
  • Fixed an issue where some devices could not go into sleep mode when idle for a certain time.
  • Reduced the use of TSL in some shell components. What does this mean for you? Some processes now consume slightly less memory. This change will also have a positive impact on applications that are sensitive to TSL usage.
  • Fixed a crash that caused some insiders to see a GSOD with the CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED error.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the operating system to freeze completely.
  • Fixed a crash that caused the EoaExperiences process to stop working for some insiders.exe when using the text cursor indicator.
  • Fixed an issue where it was not possible to set focus on the search field in the Common File Dialog box when running from remote desktop connection settings and some other applications.
  • Fixed an issue where Explorer could not calculate the correct folder size in Properties if the UNC path is longer than MAX_PATH.
  • Fixed an issue where the” Settings “in the title bar could display a notification about the availability of a system update, although the “Windows update” page indicated that all the latest updates were installed on the device.
  • Insiders who have a title bar in the “Settings” may notice the updated OneDrive icon.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Settings app to crash when selecting Sync between devices – > Getting started in the Clipboard section.
  • Fixed a problem with transitions when changing Wallpaper that was present in build 19536 and later. This issue also affected some third-party desktop Wallpaper management applications.

Known error

  • BattlEye and Microsoft have identified issues with the compatibility of some Insider Preview build with certain versions of the anti-cheat program BattlEye due to changes in the operating system. To protect insiders who may have these versions installed, a restriction has been implemented so that Insider Preview builds will not be offered for devices that may be affected by this issue. More information can be found here.
  • Microsoft is aware of a problem with Screen announcer and NVDA users using the new version of Microsoft Edge based on Chromium, which may cause some difficulties when navigating and reading certain web content. Development teams are working to fix the problem. The problem does not affect users of an outdated version of Microsoft Edge.
  • We investigate reports that the system update process may hang for a long time when trying to install a new build.
  • We are investigating reports that some insiders cannot update to new builds due to the 0×8007042b error.
  • The “Documents” section in the privacy settings does not display an icon correctly (a simple rectangle).
  • When updating the system using certain languages, such as Japanese, the “Installing Windows X%” page does not display the text correctly.
