Good morning, friends! Microsoft has released a new pre-build of Windows 10 under the number 19645 for Windows Insider program participants using the “Early access” channel (Fast Ring).
Full build number: 19645.1. mn_release.200605-1502.
Some insiders may notice that the branch name has changed to MN_RELEASE. As already reported in December, the “Early access” channel releases build from the Active development Branch. In this case, the company practices the ability to change the branch that is considered an active development branch. This is a short-term change, so builds from RS_PRERELEASE will be released again very soon. Since engineers work in different branches within the development cycle, it is possible that in the future it will be necessary to move insiders between these branches. MN_RELEASE builds do not relate to any specific version of Windows 10.
We remind you that the “Early access” channel releases build that may contain rather unpleasant errors. If you need more stability, we recommend switching to the Slow (Late access) or Release Preview channels.
Other insider updates:
- The function of managing music from the “Your phone” app is available to all users
- In April, Microsoft announced a new feature for managing music through the “Your phone” app, and now it is available to all users. The feature allows users to manage music and audio applications on their smartphone from the “Your phone” app without switching between devices. Audio tracks will remain synced between your smartphone and PC, which means you can switch between sources using the drop-down list in the player.
- Make sure that you are using the latest versions of your phone Manager apps (Android) and “Your phone” (Windows 10) to access this feature.
Changes and improvements:
- Changed the Linux kernel maintenance model inside the Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 distributions. This build includes a change that removes the Linux kernel from the Windows image. Instead, the core will be serviced via Microsoft Update, just as third-party drivers are currently installed and updated (for example, for GPUs or touchpads). More information can be found in the Windows Command Line blog, and information about the kernel version is available here.
- Added support for Nested virtualization on AMD processors. In the Microsoft blog, you can find more information about which platforms are supported and how to enable this feature.
Corrections:
- Fixed an issue where some devices that are loading their operating system from eMMC drives might encounter GSOD when exiting hibernation mode.
- Fixed a lot of issues with Japanese and Chinese IME that affected switching IME modes in apps and the Windows notification area.
- Fixed an issue where preview thumbnails were not displayed on the taskbar (an empty area was shown).
- Fixed an issue that caused the handwriting panel to not display for certain text fields after the pen was pressed.
- Fixed an issue where resizing an app attached to the edge of the screen in tablet mode caused the app to collapse to the taskbar instead of resizing it.
- Fixed an issue that caused Windows Hello Setup to crash if face recognition was already configured and you clicked the “Improve recognition” button.
- Fixed an issue that caused some PC users to not recognize the inserted smart card (error 621 was displayed in” event Viewer”).
Known errors:
- We are investigating reports that the system update process may stall for a long time when trying to install a new build.
- Microsoft is working to fix an issue for future insider builds that caused the Documents and Downloads sections to display an incorrect icon (a simple rectangle) in the privacy settings.
We wish you a successful update!
